Temporary Finance Assistant

Hours:                          Full Time Monday to Friday
Hourly Pay Rate:        £12.84 basic plus £1.55 holiday pay - £14.39 combined

Applicants must have:

 

  • Solid Finance Assistant level experience

 

  • Experience of raising and coding sales invoices and chasing payment of those invoices as appropriate.
  • Experience of processing and matching purchase invoices to purchase orders.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities: 


  • Undertaking book-keeping tasks up to trial balance stage. 


  • Maintaining the charity’s manual and computerised accounting records in an orderly manner and providing information within the normal monthly accounting periods. 


  • Communication with internal and external parties to gain timely accurate information. 


  • Dealing with all finance-related documentation, including payroll, PAYE, VAT, and other statutory returns. 


  • Issuing and coding sales invoices and undertaking debt chasing activity. 


  • Processing and matching purchase invoices to purchase orders, checking and processing staff expense claims and dealing with petty cash claims. 


  • Preparing weekly creditor payment runs. 


  • Processing the monthly payroll. 


  • General financial administrative tasks as required. 


  • Other responsibilities as may be agreed from time-to-time. 



Person Specification


Essential Requirements: 


  • Experience of working in a small, busy finance team and possessing effective organisational and financial administrative skills. 


  • Experience of raising and coding sales invoices and chasing payment of those invoices as appropriate. 


  • Experience of processing and matching purchase invoices to purchase orders. 


  • Experience of supporting staff who are at a senior level in an organisation. 


  • IT literate with the ability to use a range of financial management and Microsoft products including Word and Excel. 


  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths. 


  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing with a diverse range of stakeholders. 


  • Able to maintain confidentiality. 


  • Ability to effectively prioritise own workload and support other team members, as necessary. 


  • Able to meet deadlines in a pressured environment. 


  • Able to work under own initiative and as part of a wider team. 


  • Commitment to the aims and company objectives. 



Desirable Requirements: 


1. An accounting technician level qualification or part qualified working towards an 


2. accountancy qualification. 


3. Experience of Sage accounting software. 


4. Knowledge and skills in database and project accounting packages. 


5. Understand the financial support needs of a complex organisation.
